Dear suisse friends,
these days we are renovating Citreon DS - D Super 5.
You can see our renovation at http://picasaweb.google.com/MyCitroenDS .
But we have problem with pivot with hub.
We are not able to dismantle this part.
Especially ring nut is impossible to take out.
We tried to weld a long steel stick to move this nut.
No success!
Do you have any experience with this?
Thanx for answers
Robert, Slovakia

Dobry den Robert!

Quite a bit of work is done, and I see you like it colorful.

To me Its not quite clear what you mean, can you specify in detail what part you are having issues with? Do you maybe have a direct link to one of the pictures that shows the part in question?

Hello Chris,

direct link to problem with pivot with hub (part.n.3-413/1) is at :
http://picasaweb.google.com/MyCitroenDS/RenovCiaZvyKuRenovationOfTheRest/photo#5191236472087351058

We are unable to get out this ring nut.
We tried everything, it is too extremly tight.
Also we are afraid, whether it is possible to buy all inside parts of this pivot ( I mean gasket, bearings...).

Ufff, too much work to do.
Anyway, we made a engine little bit colorful, but not so much.
It looks serious, but every part of engine was renovated.
Everything, every screw ...
Thanx.
Robert

Hi Robert

They are hard to open, and I would do onyl if you are sure the bearing is broken. They usually last longer than the rest of the vehicle.

Here's some information on how to oppen it:
http://www.dsclub.de/forum/read.php?1,19932,19934#msg-19934 and
http://www.citroen-ds-id.com/ds/DS_Pivot_Hub.html

The risk to damage the ring nut is high. There used to exist a special tool with 4 claws that allowed opening without damage, but I'm afraid this is not available anymore. Anyhow you will need lots of power and a long extension to open the ring nut.

Bearings (part nr. 224c) and seals (part nr. 224d) as well as complete overhauled pivot hubs (part nr. 0225b / 0224b) can be optained for a lot of money from Sassen in Essen (http://www.ds-sassen.de/c_katalog.htm) (and probably others)

I hope that helps, keep us posted about the results of the restauration!
Cheers
Chris
